Cancellation of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China

I. Required Documents

(I) Documents Required for Cancellation Due to Termination of Employment, Contract Termination, or Change of Employer

1. Application Form for Cancellation of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Supporting documents related to termination of employment, contract termination, change of employer, or other reasons for cancellation: Termination of employment or contract termination documents must be signed by both parties. If the applicant resigns voluntarily or the employer is unable to contact the applicant, the employer must additionally submit a written explanation of the cancellation situation.

3. Commitment Letter for Full Online Processing of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China.

4. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

(II) Documents Required for Cancellation Due to Change of Nationality

1. Application Form for Cancellation of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Applicant's Passport or International Travel Document: Information page of the passport or international travel document.

3. Information page of the old passport (international travel document).

4. Commitment Letter for Full Online Processing of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China.

5. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

(III) Documents Required for Permit Cancellation Application by the Individual Due to Lawful Termination of the Employer

1. Application Form for Cancellation of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. After the applicant signs the form, no employer seal is required.

2. Supporting documents proving that the employer has been lawfully terminated and is unable to apply for the permit cancellation.

3. Personal statement regarding the circumstances of the permit cancellation.

4. Commitment Letter for Full Online Processing of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China.

5. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

II. Important Notes

1. The Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China will be automatically canceled if it expires without being renewed. If the permit is lawfully revoked, withdrawn, or canceled, the decision-making authority will handle the cancellation. In the event of the applicant's death, loss of legal capacity, early termination of the contract, or termination of the employment relationship, the employer must apply for permit cancellation to the decision-making authority within 10 working days from the date of occurrence. If the employer is terminated, the applicant may apply for cancellation of the work permit to the decision-making authority.

2. If the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China has been automatically canceled, the applicant may request the decision-making authority to issue a permit cancellation certificate.
