Change of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China

I. Required Documents

(I) Documents Required for Name Change Application

1. Application Form for Change of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Applicant's New Passport or International Travel Document and Valid Residence Permit: Information pages of the passport or international travel document and residence permit.

3. Information page of the old passport (international travel document).

4. Other supporting documents for the name change.

5. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

(II) Documents Required for Passport Number Change Application

1. Application Form for Change of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Applicant's New Passport (International Travel Document) and Valid Residence Permit: Information pages of the passport (international travel document) and residence permit. (If the passport is lost, a loss report must be provided.)

3. Information page of the old passport (international travel document).

5. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

(III) Documents Required for Position Change Application

1. Application Form for Change of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Employment Contract or Proof of Appointment: Chinese-language contract, proof of appointment, or dispatch letter.

3. Change Application Letter (explaining the reason for the change, new position, etc., stamped by the employer) and corresponding supporting documents. Where otherwise stipulated by national laws and regulations, those provisions shall prevail.

4. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

(IV) Documents Required for Category Change Application

1. Application Form for Change of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Proof Documents for Category Change: If the category is upgraded to Foreign High-End Talent (Category A), corresponding supporting documents must be submitted.

3. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

II. Important Notes

Applicants shall submit an application to the permit decision authority within 10 working days from the date of any changes to personal information, such as name, passport number, position, or category.
