Extension of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China

I. Required Documents

1. Application Form for Extension of Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China: To be completed and printed online. The applicant must sign the form, which must then be stamped with the employer's official seal or the seal of the authorized department within the employer's organization, and uploaded to the system.

2. Employment Contract or Proof of Appointment: Chinese-language contract, proof of appointment, or dispatch letter.

3. Applicant's Passport or International Travel Document: Information page of the passport or international travel document.

4. Applicant's Valid Work-Type Residence Permit: Information page of the residence permit.

Foreign Talent Engaged in Investment or Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Such as Legal Representatives or Small-Scale Investors: Foreign investors with actual office premises may submit documents related to company operations, tax payments, and social insurance contributions; for foreign investors with virtual registration, all materials including company operations, tax payments, and social insurance contributions must be submitted.

6. Commitment Letter for Full Online Processing of the Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China (not required for Category A applicants).

7. Other Documents: Additional materials as required by the acceptance or decision-making authority based on specific needs.

II. Important Notes

1. If the employer intends to continue employing the applicant in the original position (occupation), the application must be submitted to the decision-making authority no later than 30 days before the expiration of the applicant's current Foreigner’s Work Permit in the People’s Republic of China.

2. Applications for extension based on salary commitment shall be accompanied by corresponding supporting documents.

3. If prior approval by the competent industry authority is required by Chinese laws and regulations, the approval document from the relevant authority shall be provided.
