Shanghai Disney Resort will have a zone dedicated to "Star Wars" film series, Shanghai journalists learned while attending the D23 Expo, a biannual event for Disney fans, in California on Saturday.

The zone will feature the sculptures of characters in the "Star Wars" series, film settings, and props used in the films. Visitors can experience being a "Skywalker" with the help of high-tech devices.

Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer of The Walt Disney Company, said the Star Wars themed zone will also be built in the Orlando Walt Disney World and California Disney Theme Park, each about 14 acres in size. He said visitors can have a virtual battle and a virtual interstellar mission.

The Orlando Walt Disney World will also have a zone based on the science fiction film "Avatar" in 2017. James Cameron, the film director, will work as the zone's designer and producer.
