On 21st August 2015, Shanghai yesterday became an operational center for the Asia-Pacific Model E-Port Network under the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation to promote cross-border data collection to facilitate trade and boost the supply chain connectivity.
Since 2010 during various APEC summits Asia-Pacific leaders have called for “less impediment to moving goods and services through the regional supply chains.”
As the operational center and among the first batch of 11 model e-ports, Shanghai will summarize and share its experience with other ports in the region including those in Australia, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Vietnam and Malaysia. The city will also advance information-sharing technology to facilitate trade and optimize the regional supply chain.
“We hope Shanghai can find best practices as soon as possible and expand the experience to more places,” said Vice Commerce Minister Wang Shouwen at the event inaugurating the network.
