Zhangjiang Bio-Pharmaceutical Science and Technology Industrial Base has nearly finished the development of Phase I and II. Phase I is located in the north part of Zhangjiang High-tech Park, and the area is about 1.5 square kilometers. Phase II is located in the middle part of Zhangjiang High-tech Park and the area is about 1.5 square kilometers. Phase I and II are connected by Jinke Road from south to north and are close to the Science and Education District and the Technology Innovation District in the west; the location is superior and the privilege of the industry centralization is obvious.

The major role of the Phase I of the base is to brought state level service agencies such as national biotechnology and pharmaceutical research institutes and MNCs in, Phase I of the base has a small amount of general R&D experimental facilities which can be rented out. Close to Shanghai Super-Computer Center, it gathers several national R&D and service institutes including National New Drugs Filtration Center, National New Drugs Security Evaluation Center, etc. The manufactural projects of multinational corporations in the Base include Roche, TSUMURA Medicine and so on.

Phase II of the base focuses on gathering and supporting the development of the bio-pharmaceutical innovative projects. Besides the plan to use part of the land to meet demands of self-building high-end R&D centers, regional headquarter and industrializational facilities for local and abroad excellent companies, as a key work, it planned and constructed bio-pharmaceutical science and technology park, R&D District A and B, etc, to provide general R&D experimental facilities which can be rented. And a small number of high-quality office buildings and subsidiary integrated service facilities were constructed such as Pharma valley Building and Pudong Innovation Harbor.
